Dental Care

At Meadowmont Animal Hospital, we understand the importance of looking after your pets from the inside out. When your pet comes in for their wellness checks, we will always give them a dental health assessment to ensure they live their lives to the fullest possible extent. Our animal clinic is happy to serve the pets and pet owners of Chatham County and Orange County, North Carolina, and our local towns of Chapel Hill, Durham, Carrboro, and Hillsborough.
Veterinary Dentistry
Meadowmont Animal Hospital takes oral health seriously – each pet will get a dental plan tailored to their needs, including everything from home care to professional cleaning, radiography (x-rays), and, when necessary, oral surgery.
Veterinary dentistry has developed rapidly to meet the needs of what we now know about pet oral health. If left unchecked, tooth infection and inflammation can turn from minor fixes to chronic pain and potentially even enter the bloodstream to cause serious complications to the heart, kidneys, liver, and other internal organs.
The good news is that there are increasingly sophisticated, research-proven ways to help take care of their teeth and increase our pets lifespan and quality of life.
Cats and dogs may require dental cleanings and at-home care such as daily brushing, rinsing, dental chews, treats, and other prescribed treatments. For exotic pets like rodents, their teeth are a little different – they never stop growing and are meant to be gnawed down over time. They may sometimes require teeth trimming or other chews to keep their teeth healthy, too.
